Toward African Renaissance: Renewed Partnership for Unified Approach to End Hunger in Africa by 2025 within the CAADP Framework


30th June – 1st July 2013, Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. The African Union Commission, the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations and the Institute Lula have organized a meeting of African and international leaders to deliberate and endorse a radical approach to end Hunger in Africa by 2025 building on renewed partnerships within the CAADP Framework, lesson learning from Brazilian experience and other developing countries that have scored substantial gains in their ‘zero hunger’ programmes.

The Objectives Meeting are:
  1. Renewed Partnerships: Consolidate renewed partnerships toward a common goal and unified food and nutrition security priorities informed under a coordination platform within the context of CAADP framework
  2. Common, Innovative, Pro-poor Development Agenda: Arrive at innovative approaches and strategies for increasing food supply, economic growth opportunities, for all population groups, at all times incorporating successful experiences.
  3. Committed Leadership Drive for results: Stimulate and reinvigorate political leadership and commitment to commonly identified priorities toward a decisive national food and nutrition wellbeing guided by common policy and operational framework.
